LEG 3
Canary Islands
to Antigua
Nov 16 - Dec 18 2006
2950 miles,
33 days,
$ 2.950 us
Are you ready to spent a long time at sea and cross the
Atlantic Ocean?
The Ar Seiz Avel will be, she'll be tugging on
her lines impatiently and so will be the crew !
Twenty seven hundred miles of deep blue water will lie ahead of us. That is
a very very long way. The fresh food lockers will be loaded to the
brim. This should be a great tradewind voyage and with the wind
predominantly blowing out of the North East, we should enjoy plenty of
downwind sailing. "Yes" we are planning to fly our colorful spinnaker for
many days. This means we have to hand steer the boat, this is the best
practice one could ask for. Further your steering skills surrounded by large
waves. Plenty off time on this voyages to learn plotting, dead reckoning,
the noonsight with the sextant and off course offshore sail handling,
weather routing, watch keeping etc. Enjoy beautiful nights under a starry
sky that spans the full horizon, see the moonrise, enjoy being "alone"
[tethered off course] in the cockpit while the rest of the crew is sleeping.
By the end of this voyage you can be assured to know weather Offshore
sailing is for you!...."love it, hate it, or you can live without it".
Needles to say you will have gained plenty of new offshore sailing skills
and will be a more confident sailor after this experience. Antigua will look
great on the horizon. On the South side of the Island we will turn the
corner and plot a course for the traditional and beautiful English harbour.
"Cheers sailor we made it...we crossed the Atlantic...good on Ye"
Las Palmas Gran Canaria,
2700
miles of open ocean, Tradewind sailing, Plenty of offshore time,
English harbour in Antigua
